The Tony Adams Award

Mad About Football

The Football and Mental Health Advisory Group is committed to increasing awareness of mental health issues among those involved with the game and providing opportunities for those with mental health issues to get into football. The Group is working hard to see football used as a means to address mental health issues and is keen to see a broad expansion of sustainable projects and initiatives established or developed to achieve this.

To that end, the Sporting Chance Clinic, a member of the Advisory Group, has donated the Tony Adams Award which will go to the individual, organisation, project or team which demonstrates the most significant achievement or progress as a result of using football to assist those with mental health issues.

Everyone who has attended the Mad About Football conference and tournament will be invited to apply for the award in spring 2009 and provide evidence of what progress has been made in their local community or Trust since the conference.

The winner will be selected by a panel of judges and will receive a weekend break for two at Champney’s resort in Forest Mere, Surrey, including a tour of the Sporting Chance Clinic and facilities.

Full details of the application process will be sent out next spring.
